Automatic Disqualifications

The following will automatically disqualify a driver from working with Shuttlebee:

DUI/DWI conviction within 10 years
Felony conviction involving children
Reckless driving within 5 years
Hit and run at any time
Multiple at-fault accidents
License suspension within 3 years
Sex offender registry listing
Violent crime conviction

CDL vs. Non-CDL Routes

Non-CDL (Minivans)

Vehicles carrying 15 or fewer passengers (including driver) typically don't require a CDL. This is where most operators start.

  • Standard driver's license acceptable
  • No DOT medical card required
  • Lower insurance requirements
  • Faster onboarding process

CDL (Larger Vehicles)

Vehicles carrying 16+ passengers require a Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.

  • CDL Class B or higher required
  • Passenger (P) endorsement required
  • School Bus (S) endorsement may be needed
  • DOT medical certification required

Initial Application

15 minutes

Complete online application with basic information, driving history, and availability.

Background Check

3-7 days

We run comprehensive background checks through Checkr including criminal history and driving record.

Document Verification

1-2 days

Upload required documents: license, insurance, vehicle registration (if driver-owned).

Training Program

3-5 days

Complete Shuttlebee University modules covering safety, operations, and customer service.

Vehicle Inspection

1 day

Schedule and complete 19-point vehicle inspection (if using driver-owned vehicle).

Supervised Test Ride

1 day

Complete a supervised route with a Shuttlebee team member to verify readiness.

Your Responsibility as an Operator

As an operator, you are responsible for ensuring all drivers in your operation meet these requirements. Shuttlebee provides tools and processes to help, but final accountability rests with you. We audit driver files regularly and non-compliance can result in removal from the platform.
